Grandma's Tea Biscuits Supreme

I am attaching some recipes from me and from Allison’s grandma and great-grandma and great-aunt Marguerite. Except for the one for peanut butter cookies (from Kraft), the rest were hand-written into a family cook book by her grandma or by her great-grandmother, Bella.

ingredients

  • 2 cup all purpose flour, stirred but not sifted
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup of milk

directions

    Sift together dry ingredients.

  • 2

    Cut in shortening.

  • 3

    Add milk all at once and stir in quickly.

  • 4

    Pat out on a floured board until 3/4” thick.

  • 5

    Cut out circles of dough and arrange on a cookie sheet.

  • 6

    Bake at 450 degrees F (or less) for 10 minutes (or less).
