Meg's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
I’ve been making these cookies since the 50’s, with my Mom of course. They are chewy with a bit of crisp, and they are good for you because of the oatmeal
ingredients
- 1 cup or 2 sticks of butter softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs (unbeaten)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking soda in 2 tsp hot water
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 pkgs chocolate chips
directions
Cream together the sugars and the butter, then add eggs. Add the baking soda/water and mix well. Then add vanilla. Gradually add the flour and salt and stir it in. Then add the oatmeal and mix well. The chocolate chips are added last. Once it is mixed well, drop onto a cookie sheet by using 2 teaspoons. Leave enough space between the cookies for spreading, about 1 inch. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until slightly browned. Transfer cookies to wax paper to cool.
notes
This is not your ordinary Toll House Cookies these are Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies made with love. They are best eaten warm from the oven. Thats why you never have any left for the Christmas Cookie Plate. Make sure you have some milk on hand.
