General Tsao's Chicken
If you like this dish at a Chinese restaurant, you can replicate it with this recipe and improve on its healthiness at the same time. It’s a bit of a fiddle, but it’s also delish!
ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup plus 1 tbsp cornstarch, divided
- 1 cup plus 3 tbsp oil, divided use
- 1 tbsp EACH fresh minced garlic and ginger
- 2/3 cup chicken stock
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 tbsp sugar
- Chinese hot oil to taste
- 1 tbsp sherry
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- Steamed broccoli
