ingredients

  • 6-7 onions (1/2 white, 1/2 yellow)
  • 5 stalks celery
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 green pepper
  • 8 large cloves of garlic
  • Fresh tomatoes (old and soft)
  • Plenty of fresh parsley, diced
  • 8 oz fresh or 3 cans mushrooms
  • 7 pounds meat (ground round steak or “Kat’s Best Hamburger Meat”)
  • 2 large cans (2 lbs, 3 oz.) Progresso tomato sauce
  • 1 large can of Hunt’s tomatoes (1 lb, 12 oz.)
  • 10 1/2 oz tomato puree
  • 1 tomato paste
  • 2 or more tablespoons of salt
  • 1 or more tablespoons of pepper
  • 1 or more teaspoons of crushed, red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of oregano
