Turkish Nut Dip (Muhammara)

ingredients

  • 3/4 c. broken walnuts
  • 1 small garlic clovs
  • 3 thick slices of white bread, lightly toasted
  • 2 ripe sweet red peppers, cored and seeded
  • 1 small fresh or canned green chili pepper, seeded if too hot
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2-3 T olive oil
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • toasted pita bread or Stacy’s Pita Chips

directions

  • 1

    Toast nuts in oven until fragrant. Cool. Chop nuts, garlic and bread in food processor. Add red peppers, green peppper, lemon juice. Process to a thick paste.

    With food processor running, ad olive oil until consistency is similar to pesto.

    Season with salt, pepper, lemon juice to taste.

    Chill at least 2 hours.

  • 5

    Serve with pita chips or raw vegetables.
