ingredients

  • 1 6-ounce package (1 cup) semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup bourbon or rum
  • 2 1/2 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers (about 55 wafers)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • Sugar

directions

Heat chocolate pieces in a heavy medium saucepan over low heat till melted, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat. Stir in 1/4 cup sugar and corn syrup. Stir in bourbon or rum. Add vanilla wafers and pecans to chocolate mixture; mix well. Let stand about 30 minutes. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll in additional sugar. Store in a tightly covered container about one week to mellow flavor.
