Salted Nut Bars

Salty and sweet! These treats are the perfect ending at home or at a picnic.

ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. mixed nuts or cocktail peanuts
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 2 Tb. butter
  • 1 Tb. water
  • 1 6oz package (1 cup) butterscotch chips

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, brown sugar, 1 cup. butter and salt; blend well. Press in ungreased 15 x 10-inch jellyroll pan or two 9-inch square pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

    In a small saucepan, combine corn syrup, 2 Tb. butter, water and butterscotch chips; boil two minutes, stirring constantly. Sprinkle nuts over the partially baked crust. Pour cooked mixture over the nuts. Return to the oven and bake an additional 10 to 12 min. or until golden brown. Cool; cut into 48 bars.
