Pulled Pork

This recipes is known by many and loved by all. If you spent any time with us at the lake in the Summer of ’09, I’m sure you had it for at least one meal. Thanks Amy, it was put to good use.

ingredients

  • 3 tbs corn oil
  • 4 lb pork shoulder cut into 3 parts
  • 1 yellow onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 c apple cider vinegar
  • 3/4 c ketchup
  • 1/2 bottle of heines chili sauce
  • 1/3 c brown sugar
  • 1/4 c light molasses
  • 2 tsp red pepper
  • 1 tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • salt and pepper

    1. brown pork on all sides and place into slow cooker.

    2. saute onion for 5 min. deglaze the pan with vinegar. stir in ketchup, chili sauce, sugar, molasses, red pepper, worcestershire sauce, mustard and salt and pepper. cook until mixture begins to bubble. pour over the pork. cook on high for 4-5 hours, or low for 8-10 hours.

    3. shred the pork removing and discarding any large pieces of fat. skim off the excess fat from the surface of the sauce and return the pork to the sauce. stir together. serve the pork on soft sandwich rolls. and serve coleslaw.
