Lemon or Orange ~ Poppy Seed Bread
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1-2 tablespoons grated lemon or orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Lemon or Orange Glaze:
  • 3/4 cup sifted powdered (confectioner’s) sugar
  • 1/4 cup freshly-squeezed lemon or orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter or margarine
