Classic Sugar Cookies
ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp orange liqueur
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 large egg yolk mixed with 1 tbsp heavy cream for egg wash

Preheat oven to 350 F

Beat butter and sugar until smooth. Add yolks; beat until fluffy, 2-3 minutes. Beat in vanilla and liqueur. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until four is just incorporated.

Turn dough onto surface and divide into two disks. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

Lightly flour a clean surface. Roll dough to 1/4 inch think, and cut into shapes. Decorate as desired, brush with egg wash or sprinkle with sugar. Bake until golden, 10-15 minutes.

Remove cookies to a wire rack to cool.
