Grandma's Homemade Chili
ingredients
- 4 tbsp. fat
- 1 cup diced onions
- 1/2 green pepper, diced
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 small clove garlic cut fine or 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 2 cups stewed tomatoes in tomato puree
- 1 to 2 tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tbsp. cold water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 cups cooked or canned red kidney beans (use more for beanier chili)

Melt fat, add onion, green pepper, celery and garlic. Cook till partially tender, stir frequently.

Add beef, brown slightly.

Add tomatoes and chili powder which has been mixed with 2 tbsp water.

Add salt and sugar.

Cover, bring to a boil then simmer 1 hour or until thick.

Add beans and heat well.
