Italian Stars
These cookies are a Christmas cookie.
ingredients
- 1/2 c. Butter, Softened
- 1/2 c. Margarine, Softened*
- 1 c. Sugar
- 6 Egg Yolks
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 4 c. Flour, Sifted
- 1 Egg, Slightly Beaten
- Colored Nonpareils

Method of Preparation:

1. Beat together the fat and sugar in a bowl. Add the egg yolks and vanilla until mixed. Add the flour and mix.

2. Shape the mixture into a ball and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

3. Preheat the oven to 350°F and place on lightly greased cookie sheets.

4. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a 1/4" thick. Cut stars with a cookie cutter. Place them on the cookie sheet and brush with the slightly beaten egg.

5. Bake the cookies for 15 minutes or until brown.
notes
* You don't have to use the margarine if you don't want to. Just substitute 1/2 c. of butter for the margarine.
