Ashley's Sausage Stuffing

ingredients

  • 4 large button mushrooms (eyeball it!)
  • 1/2 med. sweet onion (chopped) about a C.
  • 2 celery stalks (chopped) about a C.
  • 1-2 Tbsp fresh thyme (chopped)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
  • 2 Tbsp fresh rosemary (chopped)
  • 1 lb. Jimmy Dean sage sausage
  • 2-3 C. of turkey or chicken broth
  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1 1/2 pkg. Pepperidge Farm herb bread dressing or 24 oz of stale cornbread

    Chop and saute onions and celery in 1/2 of the butter over med. heat until translucent. Add mushrooms and cook for 3 more minutes. Set aside. Then cook sausage in same skillet until cooked through. Mix together bread mix, sausage, and veggies.

    Mix in herbs, salt & cracked pepper. Fluff. Pour remaining butter over the top of mix. THen pour broth over top of that. Fluff again. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, until heated through and slightly dried out.
