Food Processor Pizza Crust
We all have Sarah to thank for this recipe. She fell in love with Sarah Molten’s cooking show when she went through her cooking channel obsession. We bought one of her cookbooks and this easy recipe comes from there.
ingredients
- 2 - 2 1/2 cups flour (I use whole wheat bread flour, or if you prefer a combo of whole wheat and white and it works very well)
- 1 pkg (2 1/4 tsp of yeast)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3/4 cup very warm water
directions
- 1
1. Combine 1 3/4 cups of the flour, the yeast, sugar and salt in the bowl of a food processor (use the knife blade)
- 2
2. Add 3/4 cup warm water and the oil; process until a soft dough forms
- 3
3. Add as much of the flour, 1/4 cup at a time, as necessary to make the dough manageable
- 4
4. Shape the dough in a bowl and place the dough in a well oiled bowl. Cover with a warm, damp cloth and let rise until the dough doubles (about 30 minutes)
- 5
5. When the dough is ready, punch it down and roll out into a crust (or cut in half and make 2 crusts)
notes
I use this crust to make oven and grilled pizzas. For both recipes, make sure the cooking surface is well oiled and the crust is cooked on both sides before you add toppings (unless you like that mushy uncooked crust from the oven!)
