Chili con Carne
Spicy beef chili
ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3 medium onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 (28oz) can tomatoes
- 1 (6oz) can tomato paste
- 1 (4oz) can green chilies
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon comino (ground cumin)
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 6 whole cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 cans red kidney beans, drained

In large sauce pan, saute onion and garlic in oil until tender (about 10 minutes). Add beef and brown. Drain fat if necessary.

Add tomatoes, paste, chilies and seasonings. Simmer covered over low heat for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add beans just before serving.

Serve with grated cheese.

May freeze up to 4 months.
