MRS. NENNO'S MINESTRONE AND BEEF SOUP
THE SOUP MY KIDS LOVE!!!!!!!!!! Do not overcook
ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef, fried and drained., 1 cup sliced onion,
- 1 cup cubed raw potato,
- 1 cup shredded cabbage, optional,
- 2 cup cooked tomatoes or stewed tomatoes,
- 1 sliced celery or celery flakes,
- 1 1/2 qts water,
- 1/4 cup rice before cooking,
- 1 small bay leaf, crushed,
- 1/2 tsp thyme,
- 1 leaf basil,
- 4 tsp. salt and pepper,
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional.

We prefer no macaroni, but we like barley with this.

Add all together, bring to a boil, simmer for one hour. Serve with “ Heloise’s angel biscuits.”
