Oatmeal Cookies

Another one of our Christmas classics.
ingredients
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 tbsp. water
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup raisins (OPTIONAL)
- 1 cup nuts

Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs.

Add baking soda dissolved in water. Sift in dry ingredients.

Add the oatmeal, vanilla, raisins, and nuts.

Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.
