A Thanksgiving must-have!
Crumb topping:
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup (½ stick) margarine
⅓ cup flour
¼ tsp. cinnamon
¼ cup chopped pecans
Filling:
¼ cup chopped pecans
1 unbaked 9" pie shell
¾ cup sugar
2 tsp. flour
¼ tsp. nutmeg
½ tsp. cinnamon
6 cups thinly sliced tart apples
2 Tbs. margarine
To make topping: Blend brown sugar, butter, flour and cinnamon with a fork until the mixture forms balls the size of peas. Stir in pecans. Set aside.
To make filling:
Preheat oven to 425. Sprinkle pecans on bottom of pie shell. In a seperate bowl, mix sugar, flour and spices with apple slices. Heap apples into pie shell. Dot with butter. Top with crumb mixture. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

PREP TIME: 20 min
TOTAL TIME: 1 hr 10 min
Anybody that knows me, knows that I can not, do not & will not make a homemade pie crust so, I buy frozen 9" deep-dish pie crusts. I also advise to pre-cook your filling as some apples have higher water content.
