Jacky's Texas Sheet Cake

ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 C water
  • 4 T dry cocoa
  • 2 C sugar
  • 2 C flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 C sour cream
  • Frosting:
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 T cocoa
  • 6 T milk
  • 1 lb. package of 10x sugar
  • 1 T vanilla
  • 1 C chopped walnuts

Cake

  • 1

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    Bring butter, water and cocoa to boil in saucepan. Mix sugar, flour and salt in mixing bowl. Add cocoa mixture to ingredients in bowl and mix together.

    Add eggs, baking soda and sour cream. Beat and pour into 12 x 18” greased jelly roll pan.

    Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow cake to cool only five minutes. Spread frosting on cake and cool.

Frosting

Put butter, cocoa and milk in saucepan and bring to boil. Add sifted sugar, vanilla and nuts. Mix and frost cake.
