HEAT OIL IN 8 QUART POT. ADD BACON AND COOK UNTIL TENDER CRISP. ADD ONION AND SAUTE TIL TRANSLUCENT. ADD CABBAGE AND WATER, THEN SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE. COVERED AND COOK UNTIL TENDER.
