Maryland Crab Cakes

ingredients

  • 1 lb. crab meat
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • Optional: 1 1/2 tsp. Old Bay Seasoning for spicier crab cakes.
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon canola or vegetable oil

directions

Mix bread crumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Worcestershire Sauce, dry mustard, Old Bay Seasoning (if using), salt and pepper. Add crab meat and mix gently and thoroughly. If mixture is dry, add a little more mayonnaise. Shape into 6 crab cakes. Refrigerate for 30 - 60 minutes. Heat frying pan. When warm, add oil and butter and fry crab cakes for 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel and serve immediately.
