Mainstay French Toast
This recipe is great for Sunday morning brunch, but needs to be made the night before.
ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 T corn syrup
- 2 tart apples, peeled and sliced
- 5 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1/2" slices
- Maple syrup for serving

Heat the sugar, butter and corn syrup until syrupy. Pour into a 9 X 13" baking dish. Spread the apples over the syrup. Place the bread on top of apple slices. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over bread.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Uncover and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut into squares and serve with maple syrup.
