Gloria's California Rolls

Gloria and her mother came up with this recipe. It works very well. Gloria is married to Rick’s youngest brother Charles. He has two children. Krissy, the oldest with a little boy on the way and Chucky Jr. Ricky and Charles are great pals.

  • 1 cup sushi rice Kokuho Rose Brand

  • 1½ cups water

  • ½ cup rice vinegar

  • 3 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 pound crab or shrimp

  • 2 avocados

  • 1 package Nikka brand roasted seaweed

  • Wahhabi powder

  • Add Rice to water in pan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover pan and simmer for 25 minutes. Remove from heat. Mix rice vinegar and sugar together stirring until sugar is dissolved. Then add to rice and mix through. Set aside.

  • Peel and slice avocados into ⅛ths

  • When ready to assemble take parchment paper or bamboo mats and spread rice to make a square layer on paper. Next place a sheet of roasted seaweed on top of rice. Then place two pieces of the avocado to make a line across, next to that make a line of crab. Role the whole mixture up tight to form a roll. Slice into 1 inch pieces. Mix wasabi powder with a little water to form a paste to serve along with California roll some people like sliced ginger with it. It comes in a jar.
