Slice and Bake Cheese Straws
ingredients
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 pound sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Combine butter and cheese. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper. Add this to the butter cheese mixture and mix until a soft dough forms. Turn onto waxed paper and roll into small logs. Wrap each log in waxed paper and twist the ends to seal. Refrigerate until firm enough to slice.

Preheat the oven to 350°. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Cut the dough into 1/4 inch slices and place on the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool completely before storing in air tight containers.
