Doug Wilson brought this soup to one of the family dinners. A true comfort food.

ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/3 cup chicken broth
  • 1 quart half and half
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 lb crabmeat
  • 1/2 cup Sherry (optional)

directions

    Melt butter in large pot. Stir in flour slowly and blend until smooth. Slowly stir in broth, constantly stirring then simmer for two minutes. Slowly stir in half and half and milk. Stir until thickened, which will take a little time. Add remaining ingredients, except Sherry. Heat over low flame until hot. Serve with a drizzle of Sherry on top (optional). If the soup is too thick, add another 1/2 cup milk or Sherry.

    You can add other seafood if desired. Adjust seasonings to taste.
