Pepperoni Pizza Pinwheels
Serve these pinwheels with warm marinara sauce. They are a great appetizer or savory snack. This is a family favorite.
ingredients
- 1 (11-ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough (such as Pillsbury)
- Olive oil cooking spray
- 1/4 cup pesto sauce (such as Classico)
- 18 slices turkey pepperoni
- 1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 1/8 cup wheat germ
directions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350.
- 2
Unroll dough onto work surface. Flatten out dough to about 1/4 inch; dust dough lightly with wheat germ.
- 3
Spoon pesto over dough, spreading to edges.
- 4
Dice pepperoni slices and spread evenly over dough and sprinkle with cheese.
- 5
Starting at a long edge, roll up dough, jelly roll fashion; pinch seam to seal (do not seal ends of roll.)
- 6
Using a serrated knife, cut roll evenly into 16 slices.
- 7
Place slices, cut sides down, on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
- 8
Spray each pinwheel lightly with cooking spray.
- 9
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
notes
* wheat germ is optional. I add it for added nutrition.
