Loire and her mom have been making this dish for New year’s day for as long as I can remember. Shirley says if you eat this on New Years day it gives you good luck all year. This is Drew, Shirley and Devann on Shirley’s wedding day.

ingredients

  • 2 packages boneless pork rib from Sams
  • 5 (32oz) jars sauerkraut
  • 3/4 jar of caraway seeds
  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • salt, pepper & garlic to taste

directions

Season pork with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Sear the pork then put the meat on the bottom of pan. Drain jars of sauerkraut put on top of meat and season with the caraway seeds and brown sugar. Put a lid on roasting pan and bake 350 degrees for about 4 hours. Stirring once in awhile to break up meat till it shreds apart
