Texas Sheet Cake

The frosting for this cake is excellent, it is enhanced by the toasted pecans or walnuts

ingredients

  • CAKE:
  • 2 cups flour, sifted (I use Softasilk Gold Medal cake flour)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup shortening (I use butter flavored Crisco)
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 small can sego milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 packages (16 oz. Size) powdered(A little less- check consistency of frost.)
  • 1 cup + toasted chopped nuts (optional)
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. Salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
