Ginger-Teriyaki Cheeseburgers
Happy Birthday, Jessie! These burgers are not your conventional burgers, and we think you’ll really enjoy the spice. You are the cook that I look to for all my ideas, so finding something that wasn’t already part of your repertoire was a bit tricky. We hope you love ’em! Love, Kryssa, Darren, and Tegan
ingredients
- 1.25 lbs ground beef
- 2 tbs grated fresh ginger
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbs teriyaki sauce
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- .5 tsp salt
- .25 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 large red onion, cut crosswise into 4 thick slices
- 1 tsp Asian-style mustard
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 cups broccoli slaw (we finely chopped up several heads of broccoli)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 4-oz log goat cheese (crumbles from Costco container feta should work great too)

1. heat a grill to high

2. in a large bowl, combine the beef, ginger, garlic, teriyaki sauce, vinegar, salt and pepper. use your hands to mix together the ingredients, then divide into 4 pieces and shape into patties.

3. when the grill is hot, lightly oil the grates. grill the burgers for 6 to 7 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. grill the onion slices for about 4 minutes per side, or until soft.

4. meanwhile, mix together the mustard and mayonnaise. add the broccoli slaw and toss well. divide the slaw mixture between the bottom halves of the buns.

5. when the burgers are done, place each on top of a coleslaw covered bun, then use a butter knife to spread a quarter of the goat cheese over the top of the burger. top with an onion slice.
