Challah Casserole
This is a partial make-ahead. Absolutely great for company!
ingredients
- 1 loaf challah (can use less)
- 8 eggs
- 3/4 cheddar cheese (grated)
- 8 ounce package cream cheese (not low fat)
- 2 cups milk
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chives (optional)
- Dash cayenne

1. Tear bread into chunks and place evenly in well-greased casserole baking dish.

2. Melt butter and pour over bread.

3. Sprinkle cheeses over bread.

4. Beat together eggs, milk, salt, mustard, pepper and chives and pour over bread and cheeses.

5. Chill covered in refrigerator over night.

6. Bake uncovered @ 325° for 1 hour or until egg mixture is set. Uncover for last 10 minutes of baking time.

7. Let set a few minutes before serving.

Can be frozen uncooked or cooked.
