Spaghetti Pie
ingredients
- 1 recipe Spaghetti Crust
- 2 egg whites
- 1 12-ounce container low-fat cottage cheese, drained
- 8 ounces uncooked ground turkey breast (or extra lean ground beef)
- 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350°, Prepare Spaghetti Crust recipe and set aside.

In a small bowl, beat egg whites: stir in drained cottage cheese. Spread cottage cheese mixture onto Spaghetti Crust: set aside.

In a large skillet, cook meat, mushrooms, onion, pepper and garlic until the meat is browned: drain. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning: spread evenly onto cottage cheese mixture in Spaghetti Crust.

Bake, uncovered, about 20 minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, bake for an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
