Oven-Baked Stroganoff
ingredients
- 2 1/2 lbs top round steak, cut in thin strips
- 5 Tbl oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 3 Tbl flour
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf, crumbled
- 1/2 cup beef broth or consumé
- 1/2 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 350*

Brown meat in 3 Tbl oil; transfer to 3-quart baking dish. Add remaining oil to drippings in pan. Sauté onion, garlic and mushrooms till limp. Remove pan from heat and add flour, salt & pepper, wine, tomato paste, and bay leaf. Blend in broth. Stir until ingredients are blended. Pour over meat.

Cover and bake for 1 hour until meat is tender. Remove from oven; gently stir in sour cream and serve over wide noodles.
