White Texas Sheet Cake
Everybody loves Texas sheet cake, especially the chocolate, but have you tried the white version? It’s creamy and full of flavor.
ingredients
- 1/2 c, Shortening
- 2 Egg Whites
- 1 teaspoon, Baking Soda
- 1 3/4 c, Buttermilk
- 2 c, Flour
- 1 teaspoon, Vanilla
- 1 teaspoon, Almond Extract
- 2 c, Sugar
- 1 teaspoon, Salt
- 2 c, Flour
- Icing Ingredients:
- 1 stick, Butter, melted
- 1/3 c, Buttermilk
- 1 lb box, Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 c, Coconut for topping

Mix together shortening, sugar and egg whites until fluffy. Then add soda, salt and flour.

In a separate bowl mix together the buttermilk, vanilla and almond extract.

Mix into the other ingredients.

Pour into a greased 11x17 sheet cake pan.

Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes.

Icing:

Combine Icing ingredients and spread on cake. Sprinkle with coconut. And let cool before serving.
notes
You will want to ice the cake while it's still warm. The heat from the cake will thin the icing and help it spread. Just wait for it to cool before you eat it!
