Hominy Grits

A tradtional breakfast bake my father would make on weekends. Homely, warm, and yummy.

ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups hominy grits
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 lb velveta cheese
  • 1 1/2 sticks margarine or butter
  • 3 eggs, beaten

directions

  • 1

    Cook grits with water and salt until thick.

  • 2

    Add 1 lb velveta cheese (cut into smaller pieces) and add butter or margarine until all is well melted.

    Add eggs, which are well beaten.

  • 4

    Pour into a greased 9x13" pan and bake 1 hour at 350*

  • 5

    Make sure to bake until the dish is evenly browned atop. Otherwise continue baking to ensure eggs are cooked to doneness and grits have set firm.
