This is a recipe from Christie Langer and is a real treat. It is in a pottery dish that I got at the Tempe Art Fair one of the first years we lived in Scottsdale in the early 80’s. I have used it serving for many things, especially appetizers and always enjoyed it.

ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/8 c. oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
  • 1 1/2 tsp butter flavoring
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. poppy seeds
  • Glaze:
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp butter flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

    Preheat oven to 350°

  • 2

    Mix together the sugar and oil in electric mixer. Add eggs and flavorings and poppy seed. Add dry ingredients together and then add, alternating with milk.

    Pour into 2 large or 3 small greased loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour

  • 4

    Combine glaze ingredients and pour over loaves. Remove from pan when completely cool
