Fudge Mounds
This recipe is another of my Grandmother Elsia’s cookie recipes that were published in a local newspaper, the Dinuba Sentinel.
ingredients
- Cookie:
- 1 1/2C flour
- 3/4t baking soda
- 3/4t salt
- 2/3C milk
- 1C brown sugar
- 1/3C shortening
- 1t vanilla
- 2/3C milk
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
- Frosting:
- 2T butter
- 1 square unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 2T cream
- 1C powdered sugar
- (or frost with vanilla frosting with orange extract and orange peel added)

1 Sift flour, soda, and salt into a bowl. Add all the other cookie ingredients and beat for 3 minutes by electric mixer.

2 Let batter rest a few minutes, then drop by large tablespoons on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 370 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

3 When cool, mix the frosting ingredients and frost each cookie with the chocolate frosting or vanilla/orange frosting.
