Grandma B's Very Simple Meatball Appetizers
This is always a hit as an appetizer at cocktail parties or other occasions. A remnant from the 1950s, they’re very simple to make but surprisingly delicious! Love, Mom
ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup minced onions
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. snipped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 12-oz. jar chili sauce
- 10 oz. jar grape jelly
directions
Mix all ingredients (except chili sauce and jelly) together. Shape into 1-inch balls (quarter size). Melt 1/4 cup shortening in a large skillet. Brown meatballs on medium heat. When brown, remove from skillet, drain off fat. Heat chili and jelly in skillet until jelly melts, stirring constantly. Add meatballs and stir until coated. Simmer 30 minutes. Serve hot in chafing dish or crock pot. Use colored plastic toothpicks to spear. Makes 5 dozen.
