Maple Walnut Oat Bread
ingredients
Dough- 1 cup plus 2 T lukewarm water (9oz)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 6 pieces
- 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats, ground for 30 seconds in a food processor
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp maple flavor
- 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons unsalted butter, melted

Place all ingredients, except nuts, in the pan of a bread machine in the order listed. Knead, rise and bake, adding nuts when the Mix-in’s tone sounds. Once the cycle is completed, remove the bread to a wire rack to cool.

To make the glaze, stir together the maple syrup and the melted butter. Brush the warm bread with the maple glaze. Allow the bread to cool for 30 minutes before slicing.
