Christmas Yule Log (Bûche de Noël)
Prep and cook time: “About 2 hours plus about 50 minutes to chill” [don’t believe this, allow 3 days]. This is a lot of work, but makes a pretty centerpiece for a Christmas buffet table.
ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups hazelnuts
- 5 large eggs yolks
- 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
- About 1 cup (1/2 lb.) cold butter, cut into chunks
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate
- 6 Tablespoons hazelnut-flavor liqueur (or raspberry if that’s what you have)
- 5 large eggs
- About 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar.
