Knäck
A recipe from my grandmothers swedish cookbook. Knäck is a swedish christmas candy, that actually translates to... a horribly addictive creamy almond toffee popular in Sweden for hundreds of years. Before fluted paper cups were available it used to be poured into tiny paper cones set in a pan of snow.
ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds (optional)
directions
Mix butter, molasses, sugar and cream in skillet. Cook over low flame, stirring constantly until mixture reaches soft ball stage. Add chopped almonds and pour into fluted cups and let set.
