Grandpa's Buttermilk Waffles
This recipe was perfected by Brian’s grandpa and passed along through the generations. Buttery and savory, you could use this for a dinner base and you almost don’t need syrup...almost!!
ingredients
- 3/4 cup melted butter
- 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 eggs (separated)
- 2 cups buttermilk
directions

Melt and cool butter. Stir/sift dry ingredients together. Beat egg whites to soft peaks. Mix buttermilk and egg yolk in a large bowl. Add dry ingredients to liquids, beating at medium speed until combined. Add butter and beat until smooth. Fold in beaten egg whites.

Cook as directed by waffle maker instructions.
