Norwegian Meatballs
ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 cups milk
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 cans beef consomme
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons Heinz 57

Mix ground beef, eggs, 3/4 cup flour, salt, pepper, nutmeg and 1 cup of milk together. Roll meat into 2 inch balls. Brown in skillet with 1/4 cup vegetable oil. When all the meatballs have been browned on all sides, remove from pan and set aside.

Using same skillet, saute the onion. Add beef consomme and water. Bring to a boil - scraping the sides and bottom of pan. Add the meatballs back in. Simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the broth.

To make the gravy, strain the broth if desired. Thicken with 1 cup milk and 1/4 cup flour. Season with Heinz 57. Whisk together until smooth. Add meatballs back into the gravy.

Serve over cooked egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
