Thunder Cake

ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs separated (blend yolks, beat whites till soft and fold in)
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/3 cup pureed tomatoes
- 2 1/2 cup cake flour
- 1/2 cup dry cocoa
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- chocolate butter frosting
- strawberries, for garnish
directions
Cream together, one at a time, shortening, sugar, vanilla, eggs, water and tomatoes. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Combine dry mixture with creamy mixture. Pour into greased and floured 8 1/2 in round pan. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes. Frost with chocolate butter frosting. Top with strawberries.
