Caprese Tomato Salad
Nothing says summer like a good tomato.
ingredients
- 3-4 heirloom tomatoes cut in thick slices
- 1 fresh mozzarella ball cut in 1/2 inch slices
- handful of basil
- drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
- splash of good red wine vinegar
- salt and pepper
directions
For a nice presentation stack in layers--first the tomato, then mozzarella and basil. Repeat and then drizzle olive oil and vinegar over top. Salt and pepper to taste.
notes
If you're feeding a crowd, chop tomatoes and use the mini mozzarella balls. It cuts down prep time. Arrange on a large platter and serve.
