Russian Easter Bread
Use a bread machine to make this bread. The flour needs to be special bread flour that is sold in the supermarket.
ingredients
Fruit and Nut Mixture- 1/2 cup candied fruit
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1/2 cup nuts
- 1/4 cup rum
- 3/4 cup milk
- 9 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon zest
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 3 cups bread flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons dry active yeast
directions
Combine fruit and nuts mixture the night before. Heat milk in pan and add butter until melted or very soft. Cool. Add zest, salt, sugar, beaten eggs and flour. Set bread machine for whole wheat. At the end of the kneading period, remove from machine and roll out into a 14”x14” baking sheet. Spread the nut and fruit mixture over the dough and knead for 3 minutes. Put the dough back in the machine and continue the cycle.
