Lumpiang Togue

Jesus WilfridoJesus Wilfrido Guevara

I was glad it turned out right, you see, this was my first time to cook lumpia from scratch so I was quite hesitant to make this at first. Thanks to numerous cooking blogsites (pinoycook in particular), I’ve learned some easy or simple way to make this dish. My version is basically vegetarian, no meat at all except for the shrimps. It is healthy and good for anything be it a snack or an “ulam”.

ingredients

  • 1 kilo bean sprouts (togue)
  • 1/4 kilo fresh small shrimps (hibe)
  • 1 pack bagiuo beans
  • 4 gloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium onion (minced)
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 packs lumpia wrapper (20 pcs. each)
  • salt and pepper to taste

directions

  • 1

-Chop bagiuo beans to tiny pieces and mince garlic and onion

  • 2

-Heat sesame oil in wok over high-heat

  • 3

    -Saute garlic, onion and shrimps

  • 4

-Stir in bagiuo beans, then the bean sprouts

  • 5

    -Seasoned with salt and pepper

  • 6

-Turn off heat and let cool/set aside

  • 7

-When doing the wrapping, make 1 tablespoon for the filling (make sure that it is in the middle of the wrapper)

  • 8

-Roll wrapper and seal it with water or egg wash

  • 9

    -Refrigirate and deep fry
