Mom’s much-loved pumpkin bread!

ingredients

  • 3 1/3 cups flour
  • 2 t. baking soda
  • 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 t. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. ground cloves
  • 1/4 t. ground all-spice
  • 2/3 cup shortening or oil
  • 2 2/3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups canned solid pack pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup raisins

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, powder, salt, and spices.

    Set aside.

    In large bowl, cream shortening (or oil) and sugar. Add eggs, pumpkin and water. Beat well.

    Add dry ingredients, stir until moistened. Stir in raisins.

    Spoon batter into greased and floured pans. Bake 40-45 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean.

    Let cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans.
