Old-Fashioned Boston Baked Beans
ingredients
- 1 lb. Great Northern, small white, or navy beans
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Dash cayenne
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- Boiling water

Soak beans overnight; do not refrigerate. Drain beans, combine salt, spices, onion, molasses, brown sugar, and vinegar and mix with beans.

Pour mixture into crock pot (or 2 qt. baking dish).

Pour in boiling water to cover beans.

Cook at slow cook band of crock pot cooker. 200-210 degrees F for 13 hours or bake at 300 degrees F for 6 hours.

Add boiling water if needed during baking. Freezes well.
