Traditional Chocolate Chip Cookies
We always have to make two batches. While my sister and I prefer the traditional version, the Date/Nut cookies that my dad enjoys are also very good and can be easily made from the same recipe.
ingredients
Traditional Recipe (For the Girls)- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 7/8 cup brown sugar
- 5/8 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup softened butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1 12oz. package of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Package of chopped dates
- Package of chopped walnuts/pecans

Preheat oven to 375°F.
- 2
Sift flour, salt, and baking soda into bowl and set aside.

Combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter/margarine and vanilla and beat until creamy. Add eggs and beat.

Add dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop dough onto ungrased cookie sheet in teaspoonfuls.

Bake at least 9 minutes and until the edges are golden.

After removing from oven, immediately transfer cookies to cooling rack.
Date/Nut
Instead of adding the chocolate chips, add the chopped dates and nuts and precede with directions.
