Tut's Lemon Pie
ingredients
- Crust:
- 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 4 T melted butter
- 3 T sugar
- Vanilla wafers
- Filling:
- 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
- 3 egg yolks
- zest of two lemons
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- Meringue:
- 3 egg whites
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 t cream of tartar

Preheat oven to 350.

Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and melted butter in 9 inch pie plate. Spread evenly across bottom. Place vanilla wafers around side.

Combine milk, yolks, lemon zest and lemon juice thoroughly. Pour into crust. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool pie completely.

Preheat oven to 400.

Whip egg whites with cream of tartar and sugar and spread over cooled pie. Bake for 10-15 minutes until evenly browned.
